The Tuning Room offers compassionate, specialist chiropractic support to help
manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

Living with a chronic condition like fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), or
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is one of the most challenging things a person can face. The
symptoms are often invisible to those around you, frequently misunderstood by the
wider medical community, and relentless in their impact on everyday life.
If you're living with one of these conditions in Cardiff, The Tuning Room is here to
offer something that can be hard to find: a genuinely listening ear, a careful and
tailored approach, and practical support that works alongside your existing medical
care.
UNDERSTANDING THESE CONDITIONS
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterised by widespread musculoskeletal
pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive difficulties (often called &"fibro fog";).
It affects an estimated 1 in 20 people in the UK, the majority of them women, and is
frequently misdiagnosed or dismissed for years before a formal diagnosis is reached.
The exact cause is not fully understood, but fibromyalgia is believed to involve a
sensitisation of the nervous system — meaning the body amplifies pain signals in
ways that don't reflect tissue damage. This is why conventional pain management
approaches often fall short.
ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
ME, also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), is a complex, multi-system
condition that causes profound and disabling fatigue — unlike ordinary tiredness, it is
not relieved by rest. People with ME often also experience post-exertional malaise (a
worsening of symptoms after activity), pain, cognitive impairment, and disrupted
sleep.
ME remains poorly understood and significantly under-resourced, leaving many
Cardiff patients managing largely on their own.
MS (Multiple Sclerosis)
MS is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the protective
myelin sheath around nerve fibres, disrupting communication between the brain and
body. Symptoms vary enormously between individuals but commonly include fatigue,
pain, mobility difficulties, muscle spasms, and balance problems.
There are several forms of MS, and while disease-modifying therapies are now
available, many people continue to experience ongoing symptoms that affect daily
life.
HOW CHIROPRACTIC CARE CAN SUPPORT THESE CONDITIONS
Its important to be straightforward here: chiropractic care does not cure fibromyalgia,
ME, or MS. What it can do — and what many of our Cardiff patients tell us makes a
meaningful difference — is help manage specific symptoms, reduce the burden of
secondary pain, and support the bodys overall function.
Pain Management Without Additional Medication
Many people living with these conditions are already managing complex medication
regimens. Chiropractic care offers a drug-free, hands-on approach to addressing
musculoskeletal pain — which is often a major component of the symptom load for
all three conditions.
Gentle spinal adjustments, soft tissue work, and targeted mobilisation can help
reduce localised pain, ease muscle tension, and improve joint mobility — without
adding to the pharmaceutical burden.
Nervous System Support
Because fibromyalgia and ME both involve significant nervous system dysregulation,
supporting spinal health — and by extension, nervous system function — is a logical
avenue of care. The spine houses and protects the spinal cord; keeping it moving
well and free of unnecessary tension may help the nervous system function with less
interference.
Improving Mobility and Reducing Muscle Tension in MS
For MS patients, muscle spasticity, stiffness, and balance difficulties are common
daily challenges. Gentle chiropractic techniques and soft tissue therapy can help reduce spasticity, improve range of motion, and support the kind of physical comfort
that makes daily activity more manageable.
Fatigue and Sleep
Poor sleep is a near-universal feature of fibromyalgia and ME. By reducing pain
levels and supporting the nervous system, some patients report improvement in
sleep quality following chiropractic care — which creates a positive ripple effect
across other symptoms.
OUR APPROACH AT THE TUNING ROOM
We understand that people living with these conditions are often exhausted — not
just physically, but from having to constantly explain themselves to practitioners who
don't understand the reality of their daily life.
At The Tuning Room, we take a patient-led, pacing-appropriate approach. That
means:
We listen first and move at your pace
We adapt every session to how youre feeling that day
We never push through flares or force progress that your body isn't ready for
We work collaboratively with your GP and any specialist team already
involved in your care
We are also mindful that post-exertional malaise in ME means that less is often more
— and we will always err on the side of caution rather than risk a setback.
YOU DONT HAVE TO MANAGE THIS ALONE
Cardiff has a growing community of people living with these conditions, and
awareness is improving — but the day-to-day reality can still feel incredibly isolating.
If you're looking for support that goes beyond symptom management and actually
sees the whole person, we'd love to meet you.
about how we can help you live better, whatever your starting point.
