Prolonging Your Athletic Career: Why Finding the Root Cause Matters

Olympian Jake Heyward came to the Tuning Room originally to help find the root cause of his ongoing running injuries! A month later of regular care we identified certain food groups that were prohibiting his optimum function.

Athletes want to perform at the highest level. The question of :

How do you keep your body performing year after year?

We need to get to understand your body by recovering and prohibiting problems before they become injuries.

Your Body Is Constantly Adapting

Every movement of- sprinting, lifting, tackling, jumping and training results in demand on your body. Without even adding on work stress, poor sleep and everyday life.

Your body is constantly compensating. Over time your body will show you warning signs with signals of;

  • Tight muscles not loosing

  • One-sided movement patterns

  • Reduced flexibility

  • Slower recovery between sessions

  • Recurring injuries

  • Decreased power or speed

  • Persistent aches that return despite treatment

These are signs of your body's way of coping and something else is not happy elsewhere.

Don't Chase the Pain—Find the Cause

We all assume that the area of pain is the source of the problem.

At The Tuning Room, our approach is to identify the primary dysfunction—the underlying area of stress or imbalance that is creating compensation throughout the rest of the body.

When the primary issue is addressed, the body no longer has to work around it.

Instead of continually treating the symptom, we help restore better function to the system as a whole.

Chiropractic Care: Optimising How You Move

Chiropractic care isn't simply about relieving back pain.

It focuses on restoring healthy movement within the spine and joints while improving communication between the brain and body through the nervous system.

When movement becomes restricted, the body often creates compensations elsewhere to maintain performance. These compensations may not be noticeable initially, but over months and years they can increase mechanical stress and contribute to recurring injuries.

By assessing the body as a connected system rather than isolated parts, chiropractic care aims to improve:

  • Joint mobility

  • Movement efficiency

  • Balance and coordination

  • Biomechanics

  • Recovery between training sessions

  • Overall nervous system function

The goal is to help your body move the way it was designed to, reducing unnecessary strain and allowing you to perform with greater efficiency.

The Nervous System: Your Greatest Performance Tool

Your muscles can only perform as well as the nervous system controlling them.

The nervous system coordinates every movement, every reaction, every breath and every recovery process.

When the nervous system is under constant physical, chemical or emotional stress, it can influence how efficiently your body adapts to training.

At The Tuning Room, we utilise Network Spinal as part of our approach to supporting nervous system health. By encouraging greater awareness, improved spinal adaptability and more efficient patterns of tension release, many athletes report feeling more connected, more resilient and better able to recover from the demands of training and competition.

A body that is adaptable is often better equipped to meet the physical challenges of sport.

Recovery Is Part of Performance

The best athletes understand that performance isn't built solely in the gym or on the pitch.

It's built during recovery.

Recovery allows your body to repair tissue, regulate the nervous system, restore energy and prepare for the next training session.

Our holistic approach may include:

  • Chiropractic care

  • Network Spinal care

  • Soft tissue therapies

  • Infrared recovery

  • Breathwork

  • Mobility and movement coaching

  • Lifestyle advice to support long-term health

Each element works together to help reduce unnecessary stress on the body while improving resilience.

At The Tuning Room

We focus on discovering the primary cause of dysfunction rather than continually chasing symptoms.

When your body moves as it should, we have the opportunity to thrive!
