If you've ever felt that certain foods do& don't agree with you — bloating after meals,

persistent fatigue, skin flare-ups, or digestive discomfort — but struggled to get clear

answers from conventional testing, you're not alone. Food intolerances are

notoriously difficult to pin down, and many Cardiff residents go months or years

without identifying what it is actually affecting them.

At The Tuning Room in Cardiff, we offer a specialist approach: applied kinesiology

muscle testing — a non-invasive assessment technique used to identify how the

body responds to specific foods and substances.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FOOD ALLERGY AND A FOOD

INTOLERANCE?

This is one of the most common questions we hear — and its an important

distinction.

A food allergy involves an immune system response that can be immediate and

sometimes severe (think peanut allergies causing anaphylaxis). These are typically

identified through standard NHS allergy testing.

A food intolerance is different. Its a delayed, non-immune reaction that can occur

hours — or even days — after eating a trigger food. This delay makes it extremely

difficult to identify through diet alone. Common symptoms include:

 Bloating, gas, and digestive discomfort

 Fatigue and brain fog

 Skin conditions such as eczema or recurring rashes

 Headaches and migraines

 Joint pain and inflammation

 Mood fluctuations and anxiety

Because these symptoms are varied and delayed, many people are told there's

nothing wrong — when in fact the answer is sitting on their plate.

WHAT IS MUSCLE TESTING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Applied kinesiology, or muscle testing, is a technique used by specialist practitioners

to assess how the body responds to specific stimuli. The principle is rooted in the

connection between muscle function and the nervous system — when the body

encounters something it finds stressful or incompatible, muscle response can

change in measurable ways.

During a session at The Tuning Room, a trained practitioner will:

1. Establish your baseline muscle response

2. Introduce test substances one at a time

3. Observe and record how your muscle response changes

4. Build a clear picture of which foods or substances your body is reacting to

The process is completely non-invasive, requires no blood draws or skin prick tests,

and is suitable for all ages — including children, who often can't easily articulate their

symptoms.

WHY CARDIFF RESIDENTS ARE TURNING TO MUSCLE TESTING

Standard food intolerance blood tests (IgG panels) are widely available but remain a

blunt instrument for many people. They test for a fixed panel of foods and don't

capture the full complexity of how an individual body responds.

Muscle testing at The Tuning Room offers a more personalised, whole-body

assessment — looking at your specific reactions rather than applying a one-size-fits-

all panel.

Many of our Cardiff patients come to us after years of unexplained symptoms, having

tried elimination diets, seen their GP multiple times, or spent money on tests that

returned inconclusive results. The feedback we most often hear after muscle testing

is simply: quote;I finally have some answers."e;

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TESTING?

Identifying trigger foods is only step one. The Tuning Room team will work with you

to:

 Understand which foods or substances to avoid or reduce

 Support your body's recovery and rebalancing process

 Discuss nutritional approaches that support gut health and reduce

inflammation

 Monitor progress and retest where appropriate

IS MUSCLE TESTING RIGHT FOR YOU?

Muscle testing may be particularly worth considering if you:

 Have long-standing digestive issues without a clear diagnosis

 Experience recurring fatigue or brain fog with no obvious cause

 Suspect certain foods are affecting your skin, joints, or mood

 Have tried elimination diets but found it difficult to isolate triggers

 Want a natural, drug-free approach to understanding your body better
